What Your Alarm Clock Says About Your Personality

We figured something very unique that all of us do every single day. But before we tell you about it, we want to ask you this question — what’s the first reaction you give every day in your life? If you didn’t understand the context, let us give you a clue too — you wake up every day because of it. Yeah, we’re hinting at the alarm clock that rings and wakes you up every day. Have you ever noticed that the first reaction of our days, we give it because of an alarm clock? You must’ve already determined previously whether you’re a morning person or a night owl, but have you ever sat down and thought what type of an alarm clock person are you before? What type of alarm do you keep? How do you react to it every day when you are woken up by it? How you wake up, does this reveal how you have slept the previous night?

If you don’t have answers to the above-mentioned questions, here’s a list of types of alarm clocks. See which one best fits you and what it says about the way you sleep.

1. The Early Bird

An early bird type is the kind of a person who wakes up when the house is all silent and even before the sun has risen. They wake up somewhere between 4-6 a.m. which means that they are up even before the alarm rings. So, is it really possible to wake up this early even before the alarm sets off?

Waking up this way can actually be very frustrating. Such early morning awakenings might take a toll on your sleep time and can also cause insomnia.

This can also be a cause of a circadian disorder called advanced sleep phase syndrome or can be because of too much stress or even depression (1).

If this problem is a common thing with you, we understand that once you’ve woken up there’s no way you could go back to sleep. In such cases, we suggest that you get out of your bed and start your day early rather than rolling on the bed and trying to get back to sleep.

2. The Gentle Riser

If you wake up after the alarm goes off, no matter how reluctantly, then you are a gentle riser. You know that the day has started and you will never hit the snooze button again. You know that you need to get up and start doing your work for the rest of the day.

A gentle riser waking up cannot be called as a joyful rising. This form of waking up is just a matter of necessity. Sleeping a little extra even on days when you can relax isn’t something that a gentle riser ever wants to indulge in.

3. The Natural

Now, this “natural” is what most of them hate as a majority of them can never become “the natural” riser. So, a natural is one who wakes up on time always, maybe even a minute or two before the alarm clock rings. The naturals are also the ones who have been sleeping efficiently and always wake up at that particular time with or without an alarm.

They are also the ones who fall asleep easily and can fall asleep again even if they’ve woken up in the middle of the night. They always wake up refreshed in the morning. They are well-rested and always start the day on a happy note. They definitely are envious-much, aren’t they?

4. The Hibernating Bear

If you love exploiting the snooze feature of the alarm clock on your phone, then you definitely fall into the hibernating bear category. You are the type who prefers sleeping for longer hours and the need for an intensified alarm becomes necessary to wake you up.

The reason behind the laziness to wake up could be many — inadequate sleep hours, hangover effects because of sleep pills, alcohol, or delayed sleep, sleep disorders like apnea, etc. If allowed to sleep longer, a hibernating bear person wakes up fresh and in the mood to start the day, otherwise, they do wake up upon forcing but laze through the rest of their day.

5. The Dead

These are kind of folks who just don’t wake up. You can set the alarm for an interval of every five minutes to wake them up. They will hit the snooze button every single time the alarm rings and go back to sleep.

They have a delay in both onset as well as the offset of sleep. They are usually night owls who fall asleep at 1 or 2 a.m. and will not wake up easily until its 11 a.m. or sometimes even 12 p.m.

It is very important to sleep on time and wake up on time to lead a healthy life. After reading this, which type of alarm person are you? And if you have sleeping or a waking up problem, we suggest that you consult a certified sleep specialist and solve your problem.
