Bhubaneswar: The Patnagarh MLA Saroj Meher accused of assaulting a junior engineer and forcing him to do sit-up was granted bail here today after 12 days.
The special Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court in Bhubaneswar granted a conditional bail to the BJD legislator. He was asked to deposit surety bond of Rs 25,000 and provide two guarantors for bail.
With the court’s order, he will be released on bail.
Meher was arrested for forcing a junior engineer working at Public Works Department (PWD) to do sit-up over poor quality road construction work at Patnagarh Assembly Constituency.
The first-time MLA had allegedly thrashed the JE and asked him to do 100 sit-ups in public. The matter came to light after a video went viral on social media and various news channels on June 6.
