2. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

The carpel tunnel syndrome condition is also one of the reasons for hand numbness. In this condition, numbness occurs as a result of squeezing or compressing a major nerve (2). The many other symptoms of this problem could be burning, tingling, pain, and weakness. The early stages of this condition can be taken care of with the help of simple measures, and a late diagnosis will often end up in getting surgical procedures done.

3. Lyme Disease

This disease is caused by bites from infected ticks. In the USA, nearly 30,000 cases of this kind of infection have been recorded according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) (3). This disease, like any other disease, has a wide variety of symptoms, out of which, fever and rash are the first few symptoms. And numb hands are usually a sign of untreated Lyme disease. It indicates the second level of infection.

4. Diabetic Neuropathy

The very word “diabetic” in this gives us an understanding that it is something that affects diabetics only. Sometimes, extremely high levels of blood sugar can start damaging all the nerves and that leads to diabetic neuropathy. The victim starts feeling numbness in his hands and other parts of the body (4). If this isn’t treated on time, it can also lead to limb loss as well.

5. Fibromyalgia

If you have been experiencing chronic pain all over your body and are a case of prolonged fatigue, then you certainly could be diagnosed with fibromyalgia. People diagnosed with this have also reported a feeling of numbness and tingling sensations in their arms and hands (5). This condition can be cured by drug treatment or mere physical and psychological therapy.

Remember that it’s never okay to feel any kind of weakness or numbness in your hands ever. And if this is accompanied by problems in coordination and you also face tremors, you need to immediately consult your doctor. As all of these symptoms are related to multiple sclerosis (6). What’s disheartening is that no cure has been found for this yet. However, some treatments can help the victim’s suffering manageable and improve their quality of life.

7. Raynaud’s Disease

If you are living in relatively colder regions here on this Earth, you’ll know how it feels when your nose or fingers freeze that you almost cannot feel them. The paleness you feel is almost like a death cap, right? But there are a few who are extremely sensitive to cold. And they suffer from a disease called Raynaud’s disorder (7). This condition is provoked by cold temperatures and the victim’s hand at first becomes white, then blue, cold, and results in numbness. This happens because of limited blood circulation to the hands, and in the worst cases, the condition can also lead to gangrene and amputation.

8. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

This is caused because of compression of blood vessels or nerves that are in between the first rib and the collarbone (8). This can occur after the body has faced trauma due to carrying heavy oversized bags or doing tasks that require immense physical strength. Women, in general, suffer from this more than men. Their arms and fingers go numb, there’s a pain in hands, shoulders, neck.
