India is a country where marriage is considered a sacred bond. And the mere thought of a divorce or a second marriage falls into the taboo category. The animosity that exists between step-parents and stepchildren is inevitable. The denial of welcoming the new parent or the stepchildren are vehement. But, there is one place where this looks otherwise — the kingdom of stardom, Bollywood!
Time and again, it’s Bollywood’s celeb moms who have displayed the amazing camaraderie that they share with their stepchildren irrespective of all the dirty speculations that the media puts forth. Let’s have a look at some of these celeb moms who’ve chosen to set an example to the rest of the country by bonding with their stepchildren in a way that it looks like blood relations.
1. Helen
India knows, and well, even the world knows how Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartment is an abode of pure love. This residence of bhai has witnessed many inter-religion and interfaith marriages as well as relationships. Where did this all start with? It goes back to the yesteryears when Salman’s father, Salim Khan (a Muslim) married Bollywood’s dancing diva Helen Ann Richardson (a Christian). This wasn’t all; Salim married Helen without divorcing his first wife Salma Khan.
Since then there has never been any spark of discomfort or hatred between any members of this family. They say that this is the case because all the four stepchildren have happily accepted Helen as their stepmom. At many award shows, Salman is seen walking hand in hand with his stepmom Helen. And the entire Bollywood has witnessed the sisterly bond that Helen shares with Salma.
2. Shabana Azmi
In 1984, the veteran actress Shabana married an eminent poet and scriptwriter, Javed Akhtar. At that time she had to also win the hearts of two children, Farhan, and Zoya who were 10 and 12 years old respectively.
While Farhan was seen confessing in a chat show that he always wanted to fight with his dad for leaving his mom, Honey Irani, he also confessed that slowly time played its part in healing his heart. And he’s forever grateful to his stepmom Shabana for showering unconditional love to his sister and him. Their admiration and mutual respect are very evidently seen among the stepchildren and Shabana.
3. Kareena Kapoor Khan
We all know the hardships Saif and Kareena faced as a couple to become one. What we haven’t really thrown much light upon is the effort both Kareena and her teenage stepchildren Sara and Ibrahim have put for the one person that matters the most to them — Saif Ali Khan! In plenty of interviews, Kareena has been constantly asked about the bond she shares with her stepchildren. And her honest answer has always remained the same that she wanted to be more like a friend than a mother to them. She has also always glorified how well brought up Sara and Ibrahim are and she wishes that even she could raise her son, Taimur the same way.
4. Soni Razdan
Soni Razdan has left no stone unturned in bonding with her stepchildren, Pooja Bhatt, and Rahul Bhatt. Her equation with them has always been applauded by the Bollywood community. Perhaps, the feeble age gap of just 16 years between Pooja and her made it a teeny-weeny bit easier for the bond to head on a positive route (we’re guessing). The genuine love between Pooja and Soni highlights almost instantly whenever they have attended events together.
5. Supriya Pathak
Supriya Pathak is a very well-known stage actor and a TV actor. There’s one more thing that she’s known to be brilliant at, being a stepmom to the heartthrob of Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor. Shahid is Pankaj Kapur’s son with Neelima Azeem. Shahid has always accepted the love that his stepmom Supriya showered on him very amicably. In many interviews, Shahid has spoken about how Supriya has been his guidance in terms of his acting career. Their mutual respect, love, and admiration are visible in all their pictures which the paparazzi have managed to capture.
6. Manyata Dutt
Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata has not just been a good stepmom to Dutt’s eldest daughter Trishula, but she has also served as a very dear friend. This duo serves as the perfect example to learn about the amicable bond that a stepmom shares with her stepchildren.
Trishala and Manyata’s bond is that of a cool one, and both their Instagram accounts are proof of that. Often this mother-daughter duo is seen posting selfies and pictures with each other on their Insta feeds.
We’ve always looked at the tinsel town as a land that’s filled with rumors, failed relationships, and marriages. We all know how relationships between real children and their real parents haven’t been a cakewalk. And these stepmoms, on the other hand, have been proving otherwise and shunning all those people who think stepmoms are wicked. Love truly breaks all barriers, right? Let us know what you think about stepmoms in the comments below.
